Beckwourth Peak High Camp
High Camp is located inside the Plumas National Forest, just outside Portola, California. You'll leave the pavement and drive up a one-mile gravel road to reach the property.
Open in Google MapsThe final stretch to High Camp is a gravel forest road with some ruts and dips. Guests have had no problems making it up to High Camp in all types of vehicles, including 2-wheel drive sedans. There is one dip in the road where vehicles pulling a trailer with a low tongue may scrape. If you are considering bringing a trailer or a vehicle with a long, low overhang behind the rear axle (e.g., RV), we recommend watching the road preview video below before you arrive.
